Patricia Fals is the founder and attorney of Inmigración Simple. A native of Puerto Rico, she earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, graduating Magna Cum Laude in May 2013, and went on to receive her Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico in May 2016.
Early in her career, she worked with Americans for Immigrant Justice, an award-winning non-profit law firm that fights for justice for immigrants through a combination of direct representation, impact litigation, advocacy, and outreach. There, she worked at a shelter for unaccompanied children (UAC), conducting screenings for minors who had entered the country without their parents — an experience that shaped her commitment to a compassionate, human-centered approach to immigration. After working at a private immigration firm, she joined the Miami Asylum Office of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), in 2017, as an Asylum Officer.
Throughout her career at DHS, she advanced to Asylum Officer III and later served as a Supervisory Asylum Officer at the Miami Asylum Office, where she led a team of Asylum Officers. Her government service also included a role as an Immigration Officer with Fraud Detection and National Security (FDNS). Admitted to the Utah Bar and a fluent, native Spanish speaker, Patricia brings to the firm the rare perspective of an immigration attorney who has sat on the other side of the table, with firsthand knowledge of the asylum and adjudication process. This makes her a true gem in a field where immigration services have too often been marred by scams.
Outside of her professional life, Patricia loves spending time with her family, training for Hyrox, and dining out.
